Electric Sunglasses

by Joe the "tire-remover" in Brands (on August 18, 2008)

Electric sunglasses

This is the latest in our selection of sunglasses, and today we’re looking at Electric. Based in San Clemente, in California, the brand was created by Greg Arnette, but became know in its current form by Kip Arnette (his son) who took it over in 2000 in association with Bruce Beach.

Like all good Californians, the 2 partners are fans of board sports, and the brand is firmly rooted in the milieu. As is often the case, they sponsor several sports stars such as Bam Margerra, the skater from Jackass, and Ozzie Wright, the professional surfer.

Electric has just launched a wicked new style called the “Detroit”. The shape is inspired by Ray Ban Wayfarers or Oakley Frogskins. But these have an Electric twist, with a larger shape and far-out colours (black, white, yellow, violet and red)

These sunglasses are made in Italy from Grilamid (a new generation of plastics that are unbreakable, and survive extreme conditions without warping), and offer 100% UVA, UVB and UVC protection (the full monty!)

You’ll probably have a bit of trouble finding them in France even though the brand currently has offices at Hossegor.

Electric Detroit sunglasses in red

They are now available from Ragdoll, a shop and site in Anglet, in the Basque country, who offer them for €77. Thanks to Anselme for the info!

Pull-in + Stereo Panda

by Joe the "tire-remover" in Selected (on February 29, 2008)

Here are 2 new brands that I haven’t mentioned for a long time: Pull-in and Stereo Panda. Here’s some news concerning both of them: they’re launching a co-branded line of underwear. You can see the unique elements of both brands in these styles available in cotton and lycra.

They’re available from the Pull-in concept stores in Paris, Hossegor, Aix en Provence and New York (see list of dealers). You’ll also find them in Stereo Panda partner stores like Citadium. They cost €35 for the black cotton style and €45 for the white lycra. -I’d like to see them close up to examine the quality though, as €35/45 seems a
little expensive…

American Apparel Slim Slack Jeans

American Apparel Slim Slack Jeans

Do you know American Apparel’s t-shirts? But did you know that AA also do jeans? Launched at the end of last year with the name “The Slim Slack“, this debut jeans collection is like the other products from the brand: brightly-coloured, affordable and ethical. These slim jeans are available in black, grey, white, but also in blue, violet, mustard or bright yellow! And one important point about this collection: these jeans are unisex!
