Regular visitors have probably heard of this Danish brand: Junk de Luxe. Its another in the wave of Scandinavian designers along with other brands like Acne Jeans, Cheap Monday, Dr Denim, Nudie and WeSC. I mentioned it for the first time in an article about a shirt (I bought that particular style at the time, it’s great, and hasn’t shrunk! Tried and tested :D)
And fresh in this season (I kinda gave the game away in the editorial for this special): we can now wear Junk de Luxe jeans! They’re fresh in, I saw the first styles arrive at Le 66 in mid January. And I’ve just seen their pictures. This one’s the “Modomac”, which are waxed jeans (yes, there are more!) in a straight/skinny cut.
You get the “Junk” quality you’d expect, with a price tag of €100, which isn’t actually all that bad for a pair of jeans. They go straight into my Top 3 waxed jeans.
Exclusive to Le 66 (article in French) and at the Printemps de l’Homme.

And we’re back to one of our hot topics of the moment: waxed
jeans. In their new collection, Diesel also offer a waxed style: the Keever. A very nice pair of regular slim cut jeans that’s one of their “top-of-the-range” styles. An area that Diesel should
maybe offer more styles in to prove their jeans know-how.
€250 from Diesel Store and their other stores.

I’m making the most of the opportunity to show you something else that’s new: the spring-summer 2008 Saxedo. It’s still black, still slim-fit
(semi-slim -ed), but they’ve added a strip of braid down each leg, which looks extremely smart!
It goes for €140, and it would seem a victim of its own success.

As some of you may have guessed, following the announcement of our special series on waxed jeans, the cheapest pair in our selection is from LTB (RRP €69.95). And those who’ve seen them close up will agree: they are pretty good for the price!
I’ve done a bit of research… The brand was established in Istanbul en Turkey. It was originally called “Litte big” and it then became “LTB by Little big” (see their site). I recommend you have a look at the presentation of their next collection (Autumn-Winter 2008). More styles to follow…
They’ve been called waterproof, waxed or lacquered, they’re shiny and feel as if they’ve been painted.
They first appeared over a year ago from Dior (glitter-effect jeans for more than €300) and Notify jeans (proofed jeans in black or blue for more than €200), and this year they appear in pretty much every 2008 spring/summer collection: Diesel, Firetrap, G-Star, Junk Jeans, Kaporal, Kohzo, Le Temps des Cerises, Lee Jeans, LTB, National Liberty, Nudie Jeans, Pepe Jeans, Supernature, Wrangler etc.
So they’re now more widely available at more affordable prices (from €65)! Over the next few weeks, I will show you new styles (brands, cuts, finishes, prices and stores). And, of course, wax lyrical about them :).
