The beginning of the year is most probably a time where we like to stay home, calmly, comfortably, wrapped up in some soft and warm fabrics. Recovering from last years’ adventures gulping down excessive amounts of subtly cooked dished is not exactly a picnic, you would certainly agree. Moreover, this period has to be braved with style and elegance. Then we could bet on a jacket and a cardigan both cashmere made, and a scarf, a huge scarf in which we could snuggle up against. Welcome home!

For once, let us dare something a bit more colored than usual for our bottom. I have found the expected piece from B-Store, with a sober green color that you could certainly match in your casual or preppy outfits. Going for B Store would always be a safe bet in term of cut, quality and style. In this present case, I was looking for some slim fit chinos with an adapted color for the winter. Already owning some of their trousers makes me think that I won’t be disapointed with these ones.

Sixpack hoodie

It’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for: as promised, here’s the the latest installment in the hoodie special. And this week, all eyes are on Sixpack.

Created in 1998, it was one of the labels that were part of the street culture movment. Avant-garde and ambitious, this daring brand made waves. It launched unknown artists, constantly searching for new talent, a quest that eventually opened doors to the International stage. The label forged itself a name and an image, and the whole community welcomed it: from artists to DJs, graphic artists to writers, fans and newbies, everyone was interested.

And today its reputation is made, as you can see! The artwork is remarkable and so is the quality! Mainly known for its unusual t-shirts, the brand offers some styles as hoodies! And they’re rather good, worth a look…

Diesel Keever jeans

And we’re back to one of our hot topics of the moment: waxed jeans. In their new collection, Diesel also offer a waxed style: the Keever. A very nice pair of regular slim cut jeans that’s one of their “top-of-the-range” styles. An area that Diesel should maybe offer more styles in to prove their jeans know-how.

I’m making the most of the opportunity to show you something else that’s new: the spring-summer 2008 Saxedo.It’s still black, still slim-fit (semi-slim -ed), but they’ve added a strip of braid down each leg, which looks extremely smart! It goes for €140, and it would seem a victim of its own success.

Brown Purplow boots

Today’s boots are Korean (from the brand Purplow). The description is a little, erm, cryptic, but here’s the important stuff: they’re made from leather, they’re brown, and they’re hand made.

And from certain angles, the leather almost looks as if it’s made of wood! Anyway, I find them very stylish with their decorated toes and sides.

The NDC made by Hand workshops have got exceptional know-how. This “Bond” style is just one example of what they are capable of. These are hand-made shoes with high-quality materials. Mine are blue-black, and feel like slippers!

Paul Smith Rabbit Sneakers

These new Paul Smith “Rabbits” are the latest episode in the “Choosing Trainers for the Summer” series. They’re part of the Jeans collection, and are sort of like Paul Smith’s take on Stan Smiths. And this is what you end up with: trainers with brogue punching on the toe, thin laces, multicoloured stripes and rubber soles (nice little touch: the sole is patterned with hopping rabbits). In short, the “Rabbit” is the perfect mix of comfort and style this summer!
