The beginning of the year is most probably a time where we like to stay home, calmly, comfortably, wrapped up in some soft and warm fabrics. Recovering from last years’ adventures gulping down excessive amounts of subtly cooked dished is not exactly a picnic, you would certainly agree. Moreover, this period has to be braved with style and elegance. Then we could bet on a jacket and a cardigan both cashmere made, and a scarf, a huge scarf in which we could snuggle up against. Welcome home!

The hunter’s lair

After an exhausting day where he woke up at the crack of dawn, then went back home empty-handed, our rookie hunter is preparing for its second outing. Someday he’ll become one of the greats, and will hold in its bloody hands four golden-wings. Then he will raise them up to the sky like its own glorious trophy facing the setting sun. It is a bit later than four in the morning, he practices again and again on a stuffed duck, checks the gun alignment, refills its catridge belt, and now he is ready to leave for another hunting day in the forest, hoping he would be more succesful.

Autmn blue

Summer has taken its French leave after having unexpectedly persisted till the early days of October. Leaves are starting to fall from the trees and I am feeling an irresistible need to snuggle up into a thick and comfortable cardigan. People often ask how to cloak themselves on mid-seasons, better not to think about it. Just wear gloves, a cashmere scarf, only sheer softness. Walking in Paris during this season is very pleasant, certainly the calm before the storm. There is no hurry to see this latter coming. In the meantime, I have few washbasins to repair. At least I have the adapted bag…

Welcome aboard!

Today is regatta day! Wind is blowing, the cloudy weather is interrupted by few sunny spells, the weather is ideal for a trip out to sea. Coffee on the run reading the daily news in a portside bar, and we are heading toward our vehicle moored just a few steps away. Few minutes remaining, enjoy some thin sunbeams through the clouds in the nearest square. The Captain now embarks in his 20′s two-masted ship, gives his latest instructions to the crew and then checks that everything is finally set up. Passengers are arriving to the boat, notables like workers, tempted by sailing across the Atlantic. Welcome aboard!

It was obvious that French Truckers’ path was going to cross La Gaîté Lyrique’s one. La Gaîté Lyrique, new Parisian cultural center, explores digital cultures in all their forms. That’s now our turn to explore La Gaîté Lyrique. In a relaxed outfit, between piqué cotton and linen, my adventures drove me to the historical center and to the resources area for a colourful and atypical discovery.

A dandy in Villandry

Today, I’m introducing you the Villandry’s castle, one of the lastest great Chateaux de la Loire, built during the Renaissance (the construction ended around 1536). Its English style park (dated from the 19th century) is the ideal place to present an outfit which masterpiece is a Prince of Wales checked three pieces suit. Such a pleasant spring walk was the ocasion to take many pictures :

Spring 2011 look from Mr Porter

This is one of my favourite outfit for mid seasons, I’m telling you! My ingredients are all timeless items, with sometimes touches of quirkiness. We’re starting with some tan brogues from B Store, yes sir! They have cool stitching details. Only raw jeans could match such a color, I’d choose my favourite ones : the Petit Standard from APC. We’ve called this article spring look, a lightblue shirt justifies this title. Just to keep our shoulders warm, we’d add a grey cardigan, contrasting the look. To finish, lets accessorize echoeing some of our colors : a tan belt from Mulberry matching the shoes, and a messenger bag matching the cardigan. We’ve got now a multipurpose look for spring times.

Saturday mornings have a particular flavour. Temporal tripartite conflict opposing week habits to the difficulty of recovering from a festal friday night. Also coming into play : the willing to enjoy a day off. Saturday mornings are always moments where wandering soldiers try to rebuild the story of their night, the story of their life, seated in a Parisian café’s terrace. This series proposes a plunge into the abyss of a rainy week-end of february starting.

Revolution!

It’s been now few month that the idea of showing our faces are going through our minds. Kind of a recent debate, given that we had firstly decided to remain anonymous. That’s why we’re writing under pen names since 2006. This decision has been really complicated to take, and we’ve finally agreed that showing ourselves would remove all the cold and unpersonal side of French Truckers.

Of course we’ll keep publishing looks, presenting collections and making selection of products. But to give you some more personal content, we really wanted to ‘built’ our own outfits in our respective universes. Only fools never change their minds ! Then we’re proud to announce this novelty, and leave it up to your tolerance. You’re around 40.000 to read us each month without such an evolution, and we hope you’ll keep visiting us more and more (and tell your friends to join us :p).
