I’ve always liked APC mens clothes. It’s one of the few brands that shows best the mediterranean spirit in their collections. Jean Touitou’s Tunisian origins must be a tremendous inspiration and it is something that I value a lot.

I find this djellabah t-shirt defines well the mediterranean identity today, it’s the meeting point of two cultures: the western world and the arabic world; north and south, dressed up and laid-back. Fit, well designed,100% washed denim, the t-shirt distinctive djellabah neckline is definitely a plus.

It’s been monthes now that I’m roaming around those jeans. Let’s talk about the brand first. Rogue Territory is a Californian jeansmaker which creates quality denim pieces caring not only about materials but also about construction. We can highly consider them as a typical 20th century clothing company ran by passionate people about denim, workwear and fashion. Handcrafting skills always drive to one of-a-kind pieces, that’s their spearhead! Adding all this a great involvement into supporting authentic local artisans definitely allow us to call them a modern company.

Regarding those jeans, they’re slim/straight fitted. As we can expect from them, materials used for this “Stanton” model are the highest possible quality. The jeans are made of a 14 oz Sanforized Japanese Denim coming from the famous Nihon Menpu mills in Okayama, Japan. Just so you know, this magnifiscent piece is resulting a 4 to 6 weeks process. A unique cut for some top notch jeans, isn’t it what we are all looking for?

Actually, Universal Works is one of our favorite clothing brands and we are glad to see their first shoe coming today. Maians is named after an aren of Barcelona where people live in a very cool, Mediterranean way. Somehow Maians intends to make us aware of this cosmopolitan way of living through their Spanish handmade shoes.

Again, the shoe is totally handmade in Spain featuring a vulcanized sole, a 100% cotton construction and few details such as a leather yoke at the heel or the use of waxed laces. I’ve always loved Acne’s distinctive craftsmanship when it comes to making jeans. It’s well thought out, unconventional and stylish. They own it no matter what. The different shades (purple-ish and even pinkish) make the jeans look really cool as if it’s been washed out with sand. I’m sure with time, it will look even better.

Simple and casual, I would definitely wear it with my old white Converse shoes and some old-school graphic T’s. Quality excuses the price, £190 at Question-air.

If you like wearing very thick, heavy jeans and you want to replace your old APC, my suggestion is to think about Naked & Famous denim. Actually, I was in this exact situation and my research lead me to N&F, a brand proposing jeans at market prices and which products are made halfway between Japan and Canada.

Deep indigo selvegde denim is a right hand one, it has been indigo dyed two times then sanforized (preshrinked). When I was telling you about heavy, it meant 15oz, very rigid as it could amost stand. Fading will take a bit longer than any other classic raw denim but it’ll surely render greatly. The skinnyguy has a slim/skinny leg with a regular rise, I picked them true to size, because I could even not fasten the last button sizing them down. Bit of an advice, such a rigidity would hurt your hips at the beginning, feeling like the jeans’ waist is cutting them up! No pain no gain (like one would say)…

The Hill-Side did an excellent job with this scarf, my scarf. Details are fine, and its flecked indigo color renders a very particular way. Actually, this comes from the use of a special fabric they call “Wool Blend Jersy Knit Slub Tweed” (that’s quite a long name!), which means 65% wool, 29% polyester, 3% nylon, 3% acrylic. My feeling is: I am wearing a unique item, thick and fine at the same time, well finished and stylish as ever (ok, this latter is totally sujective)!

An Indonesian friend of mine once came back from holidays in its country wearing a Mickey t-shirt. I firstly thought it was very lame, the kind of piece in your wardrobe you are ashamed of. But as he was wearing it simply and nicely, the idea was not so bad, on the contrary! After several tries of buying it from him (he always refused), I have tirelessly looked for this t-shirt he bought for a few pennies in a random market in Jakarta. The guy just lost its t-shirt, and I finally came across a similar one (it is now his turn to be jealous). I was talking about the best match for it: a pair of stylish mens chinos and a shawl collar cardigan, simple as ever!

Let’s start with the Crossback, a carrot fit jeans highly inspired by traditional workwear and featuring cross half belts from the back. The model is presented in a Virgin Pure Green Selvedge fabric and also has some more classic stuff like a coin pocket and contrasting stitches.

Here is the second part of the release. It is called “the Skinner”, a skinny fit jeans featuring 7-point-pockets, front yokes, darted hems and knees and usage of boxed button holes. This one is also made of Virgin pure green Selvedge.

Both models are made in the most traditional way of jeansmaking, and both are coming in a special box with detailed descriptions of the jeans and they craftsmanship. They are also delivered with an ‘art of the scissor’ bandana and the Denham ‘Virgin Paper’. Such beautiful pieces would simply cost an arm and a leg…I guess excellence has a price.

I just came across this Obey t-shirt with a cool graphic. Totally in phase with the brand’s identity, it refers to the 1989 Berlin Wall’s fall, tallying with the communism end of propaganda widely used at that time. The terms used in the tee are quite violent, and so the Fall was. Did André the Giant, flocked on the communist star, take part in all this story? Let me have a doubt on this… :p
