Port Maria’s Oceanfront
Port-Maria oceanfront, Larmor Plage, South Britanny, late morning. This precise day the sun was playing hide-and-seek with the clouds, then I put my red sneakers and sunglasses but still kept a cardigan over my t-shirt. As for the jeans: a straight “special” weekend-cut. A bit more loose-fitted compared to jeans I am usually wearing, but more adapted to some seaside rock climbing and to observe the birds shouting “Han, Han…” to greet walkers in passing.
By this way, do you know the difference between a black-headed gull and a Herring gull? These are two confusing bird species that you can often find seafront. The first is white with some pearl gray wings with black ends. Its head is also black (except during the winter where it is white with a black mark around the eye). Paws like beak are orange-red. The second gull fit pretty much that description but he has red marks each side of its beak. And it is particularly much bigger: weighing 1KG to 300g for the black-headed gull.
The black-headed gull has a husky and echoeing call. It has become used to the human presence, then you can also find some downtown. It has European origins but also lives in North America and Asia today. Really curious for a seabird, some are even living in Ile de France, just like herring gulls (cf. this gull vs pigeon video. You are an expert now and you have guessed it is a herring gull, much heavier.) Interesting isn’t it? Still a story to tell during your next seaside walk ;-) -Han, Han…

Love the look, especially the nice touch with the red sneakers. It gives a great focal point.
