After our trip in Lyon in February where we shooted most of our spring photos, we decided to get a change of horizon in the Catalan capital! Bercelona, its “Ramblas”, its cathedral (under construction for ages), its parks, its tapas and parties… actually, we’re going there to find nice sceneries for our summer photo series (well, April may appear a bit too early to walk on the Ramblas wearing shorts, but we promise goosebumps won’t appear on the pictures). If you’re in the area and wish to have a “Caña en la barra” with us, feel free to share your best addresses and we could even feast a bit when evening comes ;)

French Truckers Tapa

From today follow us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. The first report of our Spanish adventures will come Thursday! On the road… ;)

Day #1

Dear truckers, the plane from Marseille to Barcelona did pass like a snap (50 minutes), then I took the upper hand going at the “sublime loft” we rented through Airbnb, and waiting for Joe and Max to come an hour later. We immersed ourselves very easily to the Barcelonese atmosphere., the San Miguel is a light and refreshing beer that suits for the late afternoon, at the very important hour for the ‘apéro’ aperitif drink. Quickly, the time had come to go watching the football game FC Barcelona vs PSG in the tapas bar pub around the corner and enjoy a delicious local hamburger. People advised us to go to La Cerveceria Catalana, but there was no TV plus we should have waited 40 minutes to eat there (it remains in our planning though).

Having checked all the clothing pieces available for all of our shootings, we started tackling the hard work, going for a street, a monument to another, and trying to find nice places. On the way I’ve met my new girlfriend, Max his gangsta crew and Joe found his sneakers again. A pause for tapas, and let’s get going, no time to stroll, we’ll keep the patatas bravas on the stomach. Ps: “Joe, please, Peluqueria is not a shop where you can find perruques.” For tonight, Tony is expected to join us, coming in a special Karl Lagerfeld chartered jet : red carpet, rockstar, ripping his t-shirt… get your wife back home, Tony’s in the place! Muchos besos…

Day #3

Tony arrived safely, around midnight, and he was overloaded with clothes! I swear, we neither looked for a bar nor a night club at all, and we did not go to a place where there was nobody except us, we remained good kids and went bed at 4am. After a short though good night’s sleep, the group split in 2: Joe and Max went shooting from Montjuic with a beatuful old MG as an accessory (lent by Basile, thanks mate), Tony and I tried to take few tourist snaps at Parc Guëll – oops, we took all the appartment keys with us :x

In the afternoon we visited the Gothic area, and Tony, this rascal was particularly out of control so he started flying off in all directions (which will give rise to a “active wear” photo shooting). In the meantime, in a very “Spanish way” (at 4pm) our companions were enjoying a few tapas to pep up after a busy morning, we did the same then met up at the foot of the Columbus Christopher’s monument before setting out on a quest for new beautiful places to shoot. We did found one two steps away, in this small square where Joe played the “jungle model”. Again, we tried another inroad in the tight streets of the Gothic quarter, without success. Once there we thought about trying to shoot in the metro as we previously did in Paris, so we could launch a series we would call “subs of the world”, without success. Haggard, we needed some pick-me-up, and we had it in our “sublime lof in the heart of BCN” (a six-pack of San Miguel if you want to know about it). Tired by so much adventures, we decided that once again to have a local dinner: a huge burger from the renowned Bacoa, apparently the best of the city, we recommend it (ps: the best thing to do is going there around 11 pm, when people leaves) ! During rest of the night happened many events, but believe me, it is better that we keep all these for us…

Day #4

Fourth day in Barcelona for our team, we’re tired but still enthusiasts (actually we had no choice as many outfits remained to be shooted, so each one of us had to be concentrated, concerned and hardworking). This day started with a series took in our “sublime loft in the heart of BCN”, in which we didn’t have wifi. Joe played the photographer, and I stroke a pose for a very Spanish inspired outfit. Everyone prepares his stuff, puts in his bag many outfits to shoot during the day, then follows a wide tour in the city. From a monument to another: from the Sagrada Familia to the Boqueria market to end up at the beach, changing clothes in the subway, in parks and cutting the gas only for a short lunch pause at 3 pm (for that matter, it was our only balanced meal of the trip). Many laughes, but we still did some hard work and finished this busy day with a shooting of Tony in Barcelonetta (Barcelona’s beach). The sun shone brightly, adding this last day some pleasure. job is done guys, congrats!

Wifi pause at McDonald’s, then a last drink in our beloved loft (with a six-pack of Estrella Damm this time), a last local tapas dinner (with gambas for Tony) and time is come to fulfill a childhood dream: La Paloma, the night club of the movie “L’auberge espagnole” (which remains a classic for a whole generation of people in France). What a disappointment when we found it has closed! Don’t worry, we quickly dried our tears with a pint in a crowded bar two steps from here, and with many unforgettable memories of these three crazy days to bring back home.

Coming back

Time has come to come back, and we leaved Spaun with a headache plus around 2200 photos to classify to remember all those good times. In all, we shooted 15 looks we would publish within the new weeks. And like after any trip, there’s is only thing we think about: leaving again ;) On the road…

In general the answer isn’t really enthusiastic: “well, I might come someday but not this year…”. We all said things like that, then finally have a wide “insane todo list” you’d like to do… but you obviously won’t. That’s it, I’m goin there! Tickets are booked, hotel is booked, I am going to Hossegor for four days (october 1st to 4th) to get dazzled. An adventures you can follow via Instagram and my Facebook page with a debrief on my return.

Dear Truckers, as you may have noticed our beloved French Truck has stopped on the emergency lane since few days, due to some few improvements we are trying to add it (new cylinder head gasket, new wheels, a lick of paint)… actually it is a bloody mess! Like I was saying, lots of new features, categories, themes are to come whithin few days such as a shopping guide, a section dedicated to good deals, some “entertainment” articles and still a great promotion of French brands and fashion culture all over the world. Please accept our most virile apologies, and do not worry, we are not gone, just on hold ! And still on the road ;)

I hope you enjoyed your summer holidays and you’re ready to get back to school. French Truckers has been hit by its fair share of drama over the summer holidays, including a total computer breakdown (schoolboy error), but we’ve now got our gym kit packed and our pencils sharpened ;) Looking at our timetable, this term is going to be very busy. I hope you’ve got your bag packed too, but don’t worry if you haven’t, as we’re kicking off the new term with articles dedicated to exactly that. We have two weeks of articles dedicated for the first week to men’s bags, and then Fashion and Rugby. And should you have any suggestions relating to any of those themes, why not let us know? And at the weekend, Saturday is seduction day, with Spike’s advice back for 2007/2008, and the continuation of the Pin-up 2007 competition. And Sunday: health/beauty/wellbeing day, with new tests, Nina will be back, and we will see a new writer (a real sportsman!). So that’s September. We still have a few surprises up our sleeve, and we wish you a great start to the new year! Go go go! We’re on the road again…
