Capsule Paris winter 2012
During this “Parisians” tradeshows’ week, we did also send one of our 15,000 reporters on the road to go to Capsule in the center of Paris from january 21st to 23rd. On the menu, many new brands, some other we already knew about and many emerging trends to watch. Then we talked to all those nice people managing all those brands (and we also clowned around a lot), here is our photo report:
Allevol is a small British jeaner we already presented few times ago here at French Truckers. For next winter they will propose a nice collab with Heritage Research, a brand we appreciate much in our truck, composed by a three buttons jacket and a pair of pants.
Armor Lux presented us what is called a Kabig (Kap = cloak in Breton), a typical Breton coat, waterproof thanks to a very tightly woven wool. Like a duffle-coat, its cut is wide, so seaweed harvesters could more easily bend down. It only has a unique ventral pocket called “Napoleon”, wich could appear original but actually basic for such a coat. (Please also check Facebook with a duffle-coat on which Armor Lux putted a whistle)
Arpenteur is a recently launched French brand by two friends from Lyon. For AW12, their collection is highly inspired by workwear, vintage and made in France. I coud try on two of their heavy wool made coats which I immediately putted on my wishlist. We would present them more deeply in the coming days…
We only presented BWGH on Comme un Camion in September 2011. Their new collection has expanded to many fine pieces such as this shirt mixing chambray and hand embroidering. We also saw another soft cotton hand made shirt with a very fine lining, a nice Perfecto who caught the eye of our photographer, and their now famous “Broolyn parle français” sweaters.
We met Cuisse de Grenouille on both Who’s Next and (capsule) tradeshows. In this latter they were presenting some of their future releases: shirts, waxed cotton bags and a canvas iPad case, as always this was good stuff!
For AW12 Diemme will be introducing a full range of sneakers. It is composed by low and hi models coming with either classic or hiking laces. Of course we could expect handmaking (in Italy) from such a brand. Like on any quality sneakers, all soles are welted. Here is another item in my AW12 wishlist, I can’t wait ;)
New stuff from Melinda Gloss, one of our favourite French brands, a full range of Japanese selvedge jeans. Like always, they pay a great attention to fabric and propose innovative materials like using tea for one model which fade turns yellow. Still in their collection are some great knits coming in a cashmere/wool mix and nice coats (a coat from Melinda Gloss in know as a sure bet in France).
The eccentric Brandon from Naked & Famous denim has shown us its share of new great jeans for AW12: raspberry smelling denim, jeans in the same fabric used for judoka’s kimonos and the world’s heaviest denim standing upright! I swear! (check it out on our Facebook page)
Royalties is a new made in France socks specialist. They use their own patterns for a colorful collection divided in two ranges: coton and wool. We will give you more details about them in an article coming in the next few days…
At the Capsule Garbstore was introducting its range of camera bags coming in lots of colors in which you can carry two lenses. Don’t worry if you could not get their AW11 parka, another great one will be released next year.
