Adidas Match Play

Selected the 20 November 2012 by Romano as "the garagerocker"

I was looking for a simple, elegant pair of sneakers when I came across those Match Play from Adidas. Simple they are, no hassle. First of all, they have few similar points with the Stan Smith: the soberly perforated Three Stripes on the side, the outer sole made for playing tennis and few branded signs… quite a thinner version actually (like one would say). And that’s what we usually dislike from the Stan Smith, their thickness.

To tell the truth, if those latter were made for a specific person who was Stan Smith, the Match Play was made for Arthur Ashe, first black tennis player to win a Grand Slam tournament. During the 1970s Adidas created this pair for the player. We would certainly not use them on courts, but we like to think about wearing them with jeans, chinos, and shirt for some casual looks this winter. Since September you can find them either in a low version (off-white, navy) or high version (blue, off-white), all made in a premium full grain leather. #wanthem
