Cyclus Bags

by Tony the “Cement maker“ in Men's fashion (on September 27, 2008)

School’s back, so you might want to buy yourself a new bag. Although Tann’s has brought out restyled bags, we recommend Cyclus bags. Aside from the fact they’re the perfect size for your Mac, these bags are also unique in their design process that recycling fans will adore!

Cyclus Bag

Cyclus bags are in fact made from recycled inner tubes. The reuse of urban or post-industrial materials means combatting increasing waste with a high environmental impact.

What’s more, they’re imported into France using a Fair Trade system, the prices are fixed and non-negociable with the exporting country, Colombia.

    The Kooples Cardigans

by Junior the “conker” in Men's fashion (on September 20, 2008)

Yes, of course you’re manly enough to wear a cardigan! Yes, yes, I insist, even with a shawl collar. At any rate, you can bet that a lot of your friends will try to steal it or at least won’t be able to stop themselves feeling how soft the knit is with the back of their hands!

    The

And yes, without being the best cashmere style, the knit is chunky, generous and soft, and it shows! What’s more, you’ll be able to get the bus comfortably early in the morning without carrying a bulky jacket (remember: the summer is over, Paris switched to winter timetables on 1 September!).

Which coincides with the opening of three The Kooples stores in Paris. And perhaps you also walked through the doors without noticing the brand. Even thought I knew about the stores’ opening, I completely forgot and I walked into 3 rue des Rosiers without paying attention. Simply because I liked the look of the window display even though the shop itself was empty.

Before stepping through the door, I even looked up to see where I was; at The Kooples store. All of which leads me to tell you about the brand itself.

Their idea is, as often noted, to try to use so-called fine materials and make simple, well-cut garments, and to sprinkle them with details that make all the difference! Overall I find the collection a success. There is a decidedly rock influence and a focus on tailored cuts. The Kooples’ style tends towards androgyny, particularly in advertising where couples are brought together around a theme of sharing clothes.

So we see many unisex pieces at The Kooples such as jackets and cardigans, though it’s not really true of this one. Coming soon: the opening of our online store.

  • Snorgtees t-shirts

by Tony the “Cement maker“ in Men's fashion (on September 15, 2008)

You always need good t-shirts. If you run out of ironed shirts in your wardrobe, stick on a t-shirt, a velvet jacket and you’re ready to face a hard day at work or a night of debauchery.

A t-shirt with a well-chosen message can even spark off unexpected situations. It’s often difficult to avoid abysmal conversation with bar philosophers who can spend hours waxing lyrical about your t-shirt just when a full glass would have made you happy.

    Snorgtees Moustache t-shirt

However this t-shirt might be the ideal excuse to be approached by that lovely brunette who’s been watching you without you knowing why. “Hey! I love your t-shirt! Where did you get it from?!” (This means “go buy me a drink and we’ll chat, big boy!”). Bingo!

    Snorgtees Moustache t-shirt

What’s more, these t-shirts don’t cost much more than two happy meals and are made by American Apparel, so grab ‘em quick! I quite like the “My Other Ride is Your Mom” and “Moustache champion” styles shown above.

    Shoe trees

by Mike in Men's fashion (on September 11, 2008)

    Shoe trees

To keep your shoes in good condition for as long as possible, the use of shoe trees are advised (all the more so if you’ve bought good shoes) These wooden gadgets slide into your shoes when you’re not wearing them to absorb humidity and to keep their shape.

    Shoe trees

Look out for raw cedar or beech for their absorbent properties rather than a varnished model. And of course, choose shoe trees that match the size of your feet! Perfectionists and DIY fans can even try to adapt the shoe trees to their shoes by filing and sanding them into shape.

    Shoe trees

If your shoes get wet, before putting them on the shoe trees, wipe the outside with a cloth, and put newspaper inside to absorb the excess moisture. Coming soon: a full shoe care guide containing all previously-offered tips.

    Cazal 902 sunglasses

by Joe the "tire-remover" in Men's fashion (on September 6, 2008)

Of all the sunglasses we’ve looked at, here’s one of the most exclusive pairs. There are only 1500 pairs available across the globe. Its name: the Cazal 902. Originally created in 1982 by Cazal Eyewear, this style was one of the brand’s best-sellers in the 80s. They stopped making it in 1996.

    Cazal Dita

Its rebirth is the fruit of a chance meeting, last year, in Paris, between the Dita Eyewear team, and Mr. Cari Zalloni, designer and creator of Cazal. The resulting discussion would bring about the relaunch of the Cazal 902.

    Cazal Dita 902 gold

The style, almost identical to the original, is also produced in Germany by Cazal. Dita has however brought its touch to the design. The Cazal 902 is available in 4 colours: black, gold, red and yellow with exclusive packaging for each of them.

    Cazal Dita packaging

500 of the black and gold styles are available, while the red and yellow are limited to 250 pairs. Limited distribution which is reflected in a price that is just as exclusive: $750/pair. Available from EYESPleasure for €548 (More info on the Cazal x Dita site)

    Pop t-shirt

by Joe the "tire-remover" in Men's fashion (on September 1, 2008)

This is my latest experience of YesStyle. Along with the green t-shirt I mentioned before, I also ordered this v-neck “Pop Pop Pop” t-shirt. Once again, it’s a case of form before function: the cut and design are nice but the quality is a little average. The material is really not very thick at all! Well, at least it’s light. However, I’m not sure it’ll last very long…

    Jbros Pop t-shirt

And rather strangely, I discovered that Energie used to offer an extremely similar style that was until recently available from Adventice. -Ah those Italians, always ready to copy the Asians! ;-)))
